Baloo Baleerie

This is a lullaby, so very sweet.  We will play to the repeat bar that I have marked into the music, then repeat this piece 3 times.  The last time, if you are able to, please play it up one octave.  The last 2 notes in the RH of the last bar should be played down an octave, just like the beginning of the piece.

Harry in Winter

audiofile80x80

This is from Harry Potter, which was conceived by JK Rowlings when she was on a trip to Scotland, so in her mind it was set in Scotland!  Play the first LH bar twice as an introduction, or wait until the tune comes in and join in then.  We will play this piece straight through to the end of the first line on the 3rd page.  Then go back to the beginning and play 8 bars to the “Coda” sign.  Then jump to the 2nd line of the 3rd page which is the Coda.

Blythe, Blythe and Merry Was She

 Fast version  Slow version

This one is very short.  I have recorded a slow version so people can practice along more easily as they are learning it, but I plan to take it at the fast speed for the concert.  I am playing open 5th chords, following the chord symbols in these versions.  My plan for this little piece is to play it 4 times: the first time with soundboard tapping instead of the LH notes.  The 2nd time with open 5th LH chords.  The 3rd time splitting the LH chords up into the 2 quarter notes that you see written.  The last time up an octave and any harmonies that people would like to put in, and perhaps down an octave in the LH.

Highland Mary

With this one we are back to playing it 3 times through, with the usual variations.  In the 3rd bar from the end there is a chord with a “fermata” or “pause” sign over it.  For this count 3 in your head to create the pause then go on.  I am playing a slight “ritard.” or slowdown during th e 5 notes that lead up to the chord.  If this works with all of us we will do it, if it doesn’t we won’t!We will play this 3 times, the same instruction for the last RH note, play it down and octave.  You can go up an octave at the end if you like.

Walk in Belfast

For this one watch the YouTube link as it’s very helpful.  We have someone who will play the solo part and the rest of us will be the orchestra behind her.  If the LH is too much to play just play the first 3 notes in each bar.  It repeats a lot.  Section A is the same as Section C.  Section B is the same as Section E, with a couple of arpeggio bars added to end the piece.
